Workshop Announcement: Locally Managed Marine Areas: Towards A Global Learning Network on the 10th of September 2012

" Every 4 years the IUCN World Conservation Congress organises the largest garthering of conservationists from around the globe to exchange ideas, share experience and make decisions regarding the future of conservation. At this years event, Blue Ventures, the Pacific LMMA network, and CORDIO are organising a workshop focused on locally managed marine areas (including community managed MPA, indigenous MPA's)

The workshop will be held at JEJU, South Korea on the 10th of September 2012. The workshop will be a global first as community representatives and experts from around the world will meet to share experiences about community management of marine resources and discuss inter-regional cooperation and communications.

TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP
A travel scholarship is available to assist community represantatives to attend the workshop and the IUCN forum. In order to qualify, representatives must meet the following requirements:

.Be a representative of a locally managed marine
area/community managed marine protected area/indigenous marine protected area
.Be able to understand and speak English fluently or will be accompanied at the conference by someone who can translate for you
.Be able to speak comfortably in front of a group
.Be ready to share experience about your community efforts with sustainable marine and coastal resource management
