Invitation to attend the Inception Meeting of the BCLME Strategic Environmental Assessment Scoping Study
Dear BCLME Stakeholder
The Benguela Current Commission (BCC), with the support of the BCLME Strategic Action Programme Implementation (SAP IMP) Project, is gearing toward conducting a full scale Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the BCLME sectors. To enable implementation of the full mandate of the Commission, to give effect to the objective and principles of the draft BCC Convention (once signed) and, to integrate the non-fisheries sectors thoughtfully, the SEA has been recommend by the BCC Ecosystem Advisory Committee (EAC) and approved by its Management Board (MB).
The Southern African Institute for Environmental Assessment (SAIEA, www.saiea.com) based in Windhoek have been contracted to carry out the Scoping Exercise.
The BCLME SAP IMP Project provides support with the Scoping Study that have the objective to define the temporal and spatial scope as well as determining and recommending which policies, plans and programmes (PPPs) to review and analyse.
As a stakeholder of the Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem (BCLME), you are herewith invited to participate in the Inception Meeting of the SEA Scoping Study to contribute toward shaping and agreeing on the i) work plan and timelines, ii) scope and methodology and, iii) the desired outputs and outcomes. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 27 June 2012, from 09:00 at the Safari Court, Hotel and Conference Centre, Windhoek, Namibia. The project is able to fund the travel and daily subsistence allowance (DSA) for a few stakeholders, especially community and local level stakeholders, women and the youth. BCC is kindly and respectfully appeal to stakeholders with the means to support their own participation to do so. Please contact BCC if you would like to be considered for travel and DSA support.
