In October 2001 the City of Cape Town adopted the Integrated Metropolitan Environmental Policy (IMEP) as an over arching framework for guiding the sustainable development of the City. One of the key implementation strategies to evolve from IMEP was the Coastal Zone Management Strategy, adopted by Council in October 2003. This Management Strategy focuses on an integrated approach to ensuring the health, efficient management and optimisation of the City’s Coastal Zone.
